We supported Belfast City Council and the Belfast Region City Deal in designing and delivering an Advanced Wireless Grant Scheme to stimulate innovation and
adoption of advanced wireless technologies across the region.

The Challenge

Belfast City Council and the Belfast Region City Deal recognised the potential of Advanced Wireless in driving innovation and regional economic growth. As part of its broader digital innovation strategy, the Council set out to launch an Advanced Wireless Grant Scheme to encourage local businesses and public sector organisations to explore and adopt Advanced Wireless technologies.

To deliver this vision, the Council required a well-structured, accessible and transparent grant programme, designed to attract diverse applicants, deliver measurable impact, align with strategic goals, and supported by strong governance. Facing tight timescales, a design and launch of the scheme was needed quickly.

Our Approach

We partnered with Belfast City Council to design and implement the Advanced Wireless Grant Scheme from concept to delivery. We co-created all core elements of the programme, including eligibility criteria, application processes, evaluation frameworks and guidance materials.

To shape the scheme around the needs of local innovators, we facilitated engagement with businesses, public sector stakeholders and delivery partners. We supported the scheme’s promotion, managed the application review, assessment process and advised on project selection to ensure alignment with local priorities.

Additionally, we defined clear success metrics and reporting structures to demonstrate the scheme’s impact and strengthened future investment readiness. Throughout the process, we worked together with the Council team to ensure smooth delivery and strategic coherence.

The Impact

The Advanced Wireless Grant Scheme launched successfully, attracting strong interest and a wide variety of applicants from across the area. The programme supported innovative projects that explored new uses of Advanced Wireless, built local capability and contributed to Belfast’s growing digital economy.

Our support ensured the scheme was well-governed, impactful and strategically aligned, laying the groundwork for continued investment in Advanced Wireless innovation across the region.
